North Lincolnshire Council has invested in Winterton to enhance customer access at NL Active Winterton. These improvements include:
- Installation of additional CCTV cameras, now linked to our central control centre to improve site security.
- Introduction of the Door Watch access system, enabling members to enter the gym during unstaffed hours using their membership card or wristband.
- Creation of two new Duty Manager roles to support customers with their fitness goals
These developments have paved the way for safe, extended access hours – giving you more freedom to work out on your schedule. We are pleased to be able to respond to our gym users and announce that Winterton Gym will be trialling extended opening hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 6am to 10pm
As always we ask customers to continue their smooth experience by pre-booking their sessions through our online booking site but members can also check in and book on-site using the kiosk.
We’ve also launched a new initiative aimed at supporting the health and wellbeing of young people in our community.
Again, for a 3-month trial period, 14 and 15-year-olds with a Fitness+ Junior Membership will be able to use the gym unaccompanied once they have updated their membership records.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader, North Lincolnshire Council, said: “This continued investment in Winterton Gym is part of our wider commitment to supporting our rural communities and improving access to health and wellbeing services for all. I have spoken to a number of residents who wanted improved access to their facilities and I am pleased that we have been able to support them.
“By extending gym hours and making it easier for people to fit fitness into their lives, we’re helping more residents – wherever they live – to lead healthier, more active lifestyles.”
Cllr Elaine Marper, cabinet member for transforming the customer journey, said: “We have been working with our residents now for a number of months to secure these improved access hours. This is a fantastic new initiative that opens up new opportunities, especially for young people in Winterton who may not be able to travel to larger gyms. Giving 14 and 15-year-olds the chance to access the facilities independently is a big step forward.
It’s important to remember this is a trial, so I’d encourage everyone to make the most of it and show there’s real demand to make these improved hours permanent.”
